Butterfly Mural

There are a bunch of murals on a bridge near my apartment. This is just one of them.

Ichiban Pachinko/Slot

Tokyo has more than its share of Pachinko/Slot arcades. Here’s a sign for one in Shibuya. The Japanese, 「一番」, “ichi ban,” means “Number 1.” So this must be the best one… ;)

Bible Geeks

I saw these guys on 1/20, too. They were standing by Shibuya Station. The sign on the left says, “Free Bibles;” the one on the right says, “Let’s read the Bible together.” (If you click on the photo and see it on flickr, you can see the notes I posted on the photo.)

These guys were pretty spooky. They were waving and winking at the girls. I got the feeling that their main purpose was to try to pick up girls. (And in Japan, some people are so desperate to “practice their English” that they would probably talk to a couple guys about the Bible).

Disclaimer: I like the Bible, but these guys were creepy. Hence, the title of the post. :)

Waiting…

We spend so much time running around, trying to get things done. Here a few images of the times between the hustle and bustle, when we have nothing to do but wait…

Dinner with Temple Lions…?

Dinner with Temple Lions

This is a restaurant near Kichijoji Station, in Tokyo. The sign is inviting potential customers to warm up by coming in for some chicken rice and Oden (a kind of Japanese soup…I often make it at home).

If you’d like to learn more about Oden, check out the Wikipedia page here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oden

Food Display

This is not real food. Many restaurants in Japan have these lifelike food displays in front of the door. This looks good, but I didn’t eat here.

Yesterday, I had to run an errand in Shibuya, so I took a bunch of pictures. I’ll post more when I have time, but here is one. This girl works at a pachinko parlor. She was passing out tissue packs with advertisements/coupons in them.
