Christmas Cake!

Christmas Cake is a big deal in Japan. In every cake shop and supermarket, and in front of every convenience store, you can see a crowd of people buying cakes for Christmas. This year, I decided to get one, too.

I went to my local Supermarket and got a few groceries. Ginza Cozy Corner, a famous cake shop, was selling cake in two areas of the store. One area, their dedicated shop, had a huge line. But in the middle of the store, they had a special booth set up with just a few people. I walked up to the counter and chose this beauty:

They had many flavors and designs. The best designed cake were strawberry. They were white, with “Merry Christmas” written on the top, and Santa Clause figures and reindeers. But I really wanted chocolate. I’m happy with my choice! Watch me take it out of the bag…

This is a chocolate chip cake with chocolate mouse in the middle and chocolate on top. It looks great alone, or with coffee!

I hope you enjoy looking at these pictures as much as I am enjoying eating it, but I seriously doubt it! It’s delicious!

(By the way, I forgot to check my ISO setting, so I shot these on ISO 1600, which is a very high speed (I usually shoot at ISO 200). So they are a bit noisier and the colors are probably not as vibrant as they could have been.)

You can see the originals in a special set in Flickr, Christmas Cake 2007! Hmm…could be an interesting slideshow!
